General information
This privacy policy explains which personal data may be processed when visiting the English rally page, using the rally quiz and viewing the embedded interactive rally route. It takes Swiss data protection law into account and, where applicable, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation.
Website access and server data
When this website is accessed, technically necessary data is processed so the page can be delivered, operated reliably and kept secure. This may include IP address, date and time of access, requested file or page, transferred data volume, browser type and version, operating system, referrer and server status messages.
Hosting
This website is hosted by an external hosting provider. The provider processes technically necessary data for delivery, maintenance and security of the website.
Rally quiz
The rally quiz runs locally in the browser. Quiz answers are not transmitted to the website operator. If certain operating states are saved, they remain in the browser on the respective device.
Interactive globe map
The route, markers, country names and city names are contained in the page itself or in the provided script files. There is no user account, no comment function and no own analysis of user behaviour.
Cookies, analytics and tracking
This subsection uses no own analytics tools, advertising networks or advertising tracking. No cookies are used for analytics, advertising or profiling.
Local browser settings
Certain operating states may be stored locally in the browser, for example whether a control panel was opened or closed. These details remain in the browser on the respective device and are not transmitted to the page operator.
Technical libraries
The interactive globe uses JavaScript libraries such as Globe.gl and Leaflet. In this version, these libraries are served through a local cache file on the same domain. On first server side retrieval, the server may obtain the required libraries from external sources such as jsDelivr, unpkg or cdnjs and store them locally.
OpenStreetMap standard map
The standard map view loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap. When these tiles are loaded, technically necessary access data such as the IP address may be transmitted to OpenStreetMap servers. The map is used only to display the rally route.
CARTO and OpenStreetMap in standard satellite mode
The standard satellite mode creates a globe texture in the browser from label free CARTO basemap tiles based on OpenStreetMap data. When these tiles are loaded, technically necessary access data such as the IP address may be transmitted to CARTO or involved technical providers.
Map data, attribution and technical sources
The interactive globe map contains visible map attribution for OpenStreetMap and CARTO. This attribution remains visible even when the globe is embedded in the English rally page and the additional legal notice and privacy links inside the globe are hidden.
Further technical sources and licence information are available on the Sources and licences page. These sources are used only to display the rally route and not for analytics or advertising.
External links
This page may contain external links to book, media, map or project pages. When such links are opened, the privacy policies of the respective providers apply.
Retention period
Server data is stored and deleted by the hosting provider according to its technical and organisational rules. Locally stored browser states can be removed by deleting browser data.
Disclosure of data
Personal data is not sold and is not passed on to third parties for advertising purposes. Data may be disclosed where this is necessary for technical provision of the website, compliance with legal obligations or protection of legitimate interests.
Rights of data subjects
Within the scope of applicable data protection law, data subjects may request information about processed personal data. Depending on applicable law, rights to rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent may also exist.
